Well everyone, it's finally over. After YEARS of posting on bald cartoon men with glasses website, our time here has finally come to an end. For better or worse, this is how it has to be. I have to give my sincerest thanks to everyone who has contributed to this site's success, everyone from the slopjak shitposters to the genuine effort posting users who have tried to make this place fun to use.

All of you have etched out a name for the jarty as something worth remembering. I hope you all had as much fun as I did, because the memories I made here are something I hope to have the privilege of being able to take to my grave. Thank you all for the good times and good laughs. I love you all and, at least as it pertains to this site, this is goodbye.

Some time soon I will be putting up a static page in honor of the site and with an archive of old posts.

If you need me, you can reach me on XMPP at https://invite.joinjabber.org/#lute@xmpp.party
or at least for the next month: admin@jakparty.soy.

accurate /v/ 'toss
games like overwatch demand an insane amount of teamwork out of strangers and then they punish people for getting frustrated by revoking their access to the game they paid $60 for
GAY

while i thought this was quite brilliant commentary before i now realise the games i played all have ranked queues for hardcore gam ers which you don't have to play and only fail to work some of the time so its chud tier old good new bad

no its comparing quake, half life, and tf2 to games like overwatch
those older games allowed players to make their own fun (as the infographic shows) while blizzard/riotgames/dice/dbd/etc forces the player to play the game how they want to
there is an enormous emphasis on competitiveness and a microscopic focus on custom gamemodes and campy fun in general

>chud tier old good new bad
in this case its correct because mainstream games weren't always this streamlined and dumbed down
your argument is trans tier "let people enjoy things"

>ranked queues for hardcore gam ers which you don't have to play
you are straight up lying if you are referring to overwatch and even if casual wasn't baby mode then your argument would still be problematic
>role queue
>objectives are anti-fun garbage that force the player to stick with his team the whole game (even doe all the maps are big and expansive)
>blizzard controls what you can say in the chat
>your rank is decided only by how well your team performs
>even when you get to the game you are forced to wait in spawn for a minute in all of the gamemodes
see how many factors are severely limiting players when they get into a match? compare that to old multiplayer shooters where the game is as simple as dropping into a server and killing people
blizzard might as well force people to play with a shock collar on that zaps them when they try to have fun in any way

>WAAAA DONT GIVE ME THE CONTROL COLLAR BECAUSE IM A SELFISH LITTLE FUCK THAT WANTS TO HAVE FUN EVEN THO I CANT DO THAT BECAUSE VALID TRANS FOLX IN AFRICA ARE SUFFERING RIGHT NOW
<YOU AGREED TO BLIZZARD'S ANTI-FUN POLICY WHEN YOU AGREED TO THE 90 PAGE LIFELONG TERMS OF SERVICE CONTRACT NOW PUT THE SHOCK COLLAR ON

not the argument presented also i never played overwatch but have heard criticisms of its queue which seems to come down to their incapability of balancing the game
>>1306
in the case of league you have blind (for when you don't want your champion banned although you have to call your role), unranked, ranked, ranked for more than 2 people (or 2 or more people in higher ranks through most players will never get there), aram (which is more relaxed through i find the way it funnels objectives to make it tedious) and possibly an alternate game mode which is more focused on silliness as the thing puts it
With dota 2 you still have alternate modes or did they get rid of them i don't know

Curious that you bring up league which is actually the most restrictive competitive game, especially with the censorship. You get little to no freedom in how you approach the matches aside from a few metagaming gimmicks.
The alternative gamemodes don't have as much effort put into them as the main game, which is a constant for all modern multiplayer games. TF2 on the other hand has a ton of official maps (and some really good community maps), plus multiple experimental gamemodes.
>DOTA
DOTA has a lot more going on than League, giving the player more room for strategies and playstyles. It's a more complicated games, but a lot more rewarding than League.
Dunkey put it best with his video tbh.

>Role queue
I think role queue is the best example of modern multiplayers. Overwatch 1 had 28 characters, yet Blizzard forced you to only play from a small selection so that the game can be 2 tanks/2 attackers/2 healers.
Modern multiplayers are just so streamlined, inoffensive, and linear. There is little to no personality or thought put into them. Studios just ask the developers to replicate other popular games with a few gimmicks to make them legally distinct. No artistry whatsoever involved.
>>1312
>also i never played overwatch even though the image i responded to was about overwatch
holy pissbaby
>not the argument presented
the argument presented is that multiplayer games fuck over a big chunk of their players to appeal to a wider mainstream audience that doesnt even like videogames instead of making a genuinely good product that appeals to everyone
Zombie escape is fun
